Nothing is stronger than family.

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw centers on two reluctant allies, Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), who are forced to team up amidst a high-stakes pursuit of a powerful super virus that could potentially wipe out the entire human race. The story begins in London, where MI6 agent Hattie Shaw ( Vanessa Kirby), Deckard’s younger sister, acquires a programmable super virus called “Snowflake” from a cyberterrorist group named Eteon. After a violent attack by Brixton Lore (Idris Elba), an enhanced ex-MI6 agent with cybernetic abilities who kills her team, Hattie injects herself with the virus to keep it from falling into enemy hands and is then framed as a criminal on the run.

Hobbs, an ex-DSS agent estranged from his Samoan family, and Shaw, an ex-MI6 agent with a complicated past, are independently tasked to track down the missing virus by CIA Agent Victor Locke (Played by Ryan Reynolds in an uncredited Cameo Role). They initially clash due to their rivalry but eventually must collaborate to find and rescue Hattie. Their mission leads them through intense action sequences, including a daring car chase and battles against Eteon’s forces, as the trio uncovers the deadly potential of the virus and the high stakes of Brixton’s plan for global dominance.

They try to trick their way into the Eteon Lab where there is a virus extraction machine that can recover the virus capsules from inside Hattie. But the machine is damaged as they escape the lab with it. With everyone looking for them after Eteon plastered their pictures all over every news media in the world, Hobbs decides there is only one place they can go. The one place he never wanted to go back to, home to Samoa. Knowing that they would be safe on the remote island with his estranged family long enough to fix the machine and extract the virus, they head to Samoa.

Hobbs has a complicated but deep relationship with his brother Jonah, who initially feels hurt and neglected because Hobbs had been absent from his family’s life for a long time. When Hobbs returns to Samoa, there’s tension between them, but they eventually begin to reconnect and rebuild their bond. This reconciliation is important because it not only strengthens their family ties but also becomes vital in the fight ahead, and Hobbs knows that Jonah has the expertise and the technology to fix the Virus Capsule extraction machine.

The Samoan community, led by Hobbs and supported by his brother and other family members, comes together to prepare for an epic battle against Brixton, who threatens global destruction with a deadly virus. The brothers draw on their Samoan heritage and warrior spirit, merging traditional strength and modern tactics to stand against the coming enemy. This powerful alliance of family and community showcases themes of unity, loyalty, and courage as they put everything on the line to protect humanity from a catastrophic threat. Their fight is not just personal—it is a struggle for the survival of innocent lives everywhere.

I have seen this movie a few times and I was anxious to watch it again after I found out it was going to be on Netflix with most of The Fast And The Furious Franchise. It does not disappoint, with such Star Power, how could it? I am a huge Jason Statham fan and a big fan of Dwayne Johnson, and the two together are perfect in my opinion. More, please! I had forgotten how much of a Bad-Ass Vanessa Kirby is in this movie, from the very beginning she holds her own with Statham and Johnson, giving The Rock a run for his money in one scene. Awesome job by Vanessa! I just watched her in Night Always Comes and really enjoyed her in that one as well. I thought she was really good as Josephine De Beauharnais in Napoleon, which is a really good movie also.

I feel like I could go on for days about this movie I like it so much….Idris Alba is excellent as the evil cyborg trying to rid the planet of the weak side of humanity. That motorcycle of his is something else! Wicked special effects on that one! And the last part of the movie where Hobbs goes home to Samoa is great. Watching his Mom break bad with a flip-flop that EVERYONE on the island respects was hilarious and heart-warming. You see the love and sense of family they all have for each other. Getting a glimpse of the Samoan culture and their fierce Warrior Spirit was awe-Inspiring. Kevin Hart also has an uncredited Cameo as a US Air Marshall. And on and on and on….. Seriously….do yourself a favor..

Jenny sees the fight and has a conversation with Levon about it. Levon promises Jenny that he will always have her back, no matter what, if she needs anything, gets into any trouble to let him know…….

That night Jenny goes out on the town to celebrate her first semester of school being over with some friends. While in the bar and helping one of her drunk friends get to the bathroom, Jenny is abducted. Her parents contact the police and Joe asks Levon for his help, knowing that he is ex special ops. At first Levon refuses saying, he’s a changed man……

But Levon’s promise to Jenny to always have her back starts to eat away at him and he decides that he must go find Jenny and bring her home…….

And that’s where the fun begins! Levon goes to work doing what he does best. He has a mission and won’t stop until the objective is achieved, no matter the human cost…….

I am a Jason Statham fan and this is another good one. It is based upon the book Levon’s Trade: A Vigilante Justice Thriller (Levon Cade)  by Chuck Dixon December 8, 2021. The movie was produced and directed by David Ayer, who also produced The Beekeeper starring Jason Statham. Jason and Sylvester Stallone also Co-produced the movie. Just like in The Beekeeper, Jason plays an ex special ops guy who goes after the bad guys to right his world. It is a Jason Statham formula that works every single time.

Once again Jason Statham does not disappoint, It was everything I expected. There is A Working Man 2 sequel in development as we speak. I have to say I am already looking forward to it. I just wonder who is going to get Jason’s wrath next………

The Beekeeper

Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre

2023   Lionsgate

Rated:  R

Length:  1hr  54 min

Action ~ Comedy ~ Thriller

Directed by:  Guy Ritchie

Starring:  Jason StathamAubrey PlazaJosh HartnettCary ElwesBugzy Malone and Hugh Grant.

“Our secure facility in Johannesburg was ambushed and some well guarded cargo is missing. I need you to retrieve it, find out who the seller is, who the buyer is and what it is. I need this to be an unorthodox mission, Ruse De Guerre, led by your main man Orson Fortune.”

Nathan Jasmine (Cary Elwes), a private spy contractor, is hired by the British Government to retrieve stolen merchandise known only as “The Handle”. He assembles  a team led by his main spy Orson Fortune (Jason Statham), Sarah Fidel (Aubrey Plaza), newly acquired from Nathan’s competition and JJ Davies(Bugzy Malone). The team flies to Madrid to intercept the courier carrying a hard drive with the data from “The Handle”.

They quickly realize that there is another contractor’s team led by Mike, Nathan’s competition in the spy business, after the same courier. They manage to get the drive and copy the contents, before Mike gets the hard drive from them, and discovers that the arms dealer Greg Simmonds (Hugh Grant) has “The Handle” and plans to auction it off to the highest bidder.

Sarah is an expert hacker and digs up dirt on Greg Simmonds’ favorite actor, Danny Francesco (Josh Hartnett) and blackmails him into going to a fundraiser hosted by Greg aboard his yacht in Cannes France. Sarah poses as Danny’s girlfriend and Orson as his Manager in a ruse to get closer to Gregg to ascertain the whereabouts of “The Handle” and who the buyers are.

Which is where the action really starts. It is the same spy story plot of, bad guy stole the goods and unless we get it back the world is in peril, retrieve at whatever cost. There is lots of action, fighting, killing, guns, knives, missiles, car chases, helicopters and backstabbing amongst everyone trying to get their hands on “The Handle”. There is a lot of witty banter between Jason Statham and Aubrey Plaza, Jason and Bugsy Malone, Josh Hartnett and Hugh Grant.

I really like Hugh Grant in this role, similar to his role in The Gentlemen, another Guy Ritchie Movie. Bugzy Malone was in that as well, have to re-watch that. It also reminds me of another guy Ritchie movie, The Man From U.N.C.L.E, another good spy caper film I really like. I like Aubrey Plaza in this, thought she and Jason had good chemistry. I’m not familiar with her but see that she is in Emily The Criminal. Have to watch that one tonight! And I am a big Jason Statham fan, he can’t hardly do any wrong as far as I am concerned.

Clichéd story but with a twist. I liked it.

Good Clean Fun, this one.

Two Thumbs Up!

The Beekeeper

2024   Amazon MGM Studios

Rated:  R

Length:  1 hr  45min

Action ~ Thriller

Directed by:  David Ayer

Starring:  Jason Statham, Jeremy Irons, Minnie Driver, and Phylicia Rashad.

“Repeat after me, I will never steal from the weak and the elderly again.”

Jason Statham produced and stars as Adam Clay, a retired operative of a secret clandestine organization known as “The Beekeepers”. The agency is tasked with Protecting the Hive(The World) from the evil that wants to do it harm and The Beekeepers are the operatives on the front lines doing whatever it takes to protect the hive.

Adam is spending his retirement peacefully on a farm raising Bees, protecting their hive as he did when he was with The Beekeepers, when the owner of the farm is scammed out of millions of dollars by a well organized Phone Scamming group.  Adam embarks on a journey to protect The Hive(his little retirement world), the elderly woman he rented from and exact revenge for the senseless act of betrayal that entered his quiet retirement existence. And that’s where the action starts.

The Beekeeper is exactly what you would expect from a Jason Statham movie. Good guy enacting revenge from those who entered his world to do bad. Completely sticking with the beekeeper theme. “I’m a Beekeeper, I protect the hive……Sometimes I use fire to smoke out the hornets……..Nobody’s untouchable…… Sometimes when the hive is out of balance, you have to replace the queen.”

I am a huge Jason Statham fan and I was not disappointed with this film at all. It was exactly what I expected and more. I loved the Beekeeper theme and the comparisons between keeping bees, protecting the hive, and good vs. evil. And you gotta love watching Jason Statham kicking ass!

Two thumbs up!
