FRANKENSTEIN COMES TO LIFE ON NETFLIX!

Netflix is producing a re-make of The Mary Shelley classic Novel Frankenstein. Filming wrapped up September 2024 after shooting in Toronto, Canada and Edinburgh, Scotland. The movie is directed by Guillermo Del Toro and the cast includes Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth (Pearl), Oscar Isaac and Christoph Waltz. The new Frankenstein movie is slated for release November later this year. I love Mia Goth, she is the new Horror Queen in my opinion, and I can’t wait to see her in this.

Guillermo del Toro is building a monster. Fresh off of his third Oscar win for Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, the writer-director is fulfilling a lifelong dream: making his own adaptation of Mary Shelley’s beloved Gothic novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus.

Del Toro has been working on a Frankenstein film for more than a decade. “My favorite novel in the world is Frankenstein,” he told Collider in 2010. “I’m going to misquote it horribly, but the monster says, ‘I have such love in me, more than you can imagine. But, if I cannot provoke it, I will provoke fear.’ ” It’s an idea that inspired del Toro’s career-spanning love for the monsters inside and outside all of us. Now he’s finally returning to the source.

Del Toro’s Frankenstein is adapted from Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel, which she completed at the age of 19, and which he’s cited for years as an inspiration for his work. In his 2018 acceptance speech after winning the BAFTA Award for Best Director for The Shape of Water, del Toro even made time to thank the British Gothic novelist.

“The most important figure from English legacy is, incredibly, for me, a teenager by the name of Mary Shelley, and she has remained a figure as important in my life as if she were family,” del Toro said. “And so many times when I want to give up, when I think about giving up, when people tell me that dreaming of the movies and the stories I dream are impossible, I think of her.”

Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning Sneak Peek Trailer dropped by Paramount

Paramount Pictures just dropped The Official Trailer for Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning which is the direct sequel to 2023″s Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning.

I watched Dead Reckoning and I remember being pretty upset that it was a two part movie and I was going to have to wait until the sequel came out to see the rest of the story. I did like the movie and am anxiously waiting to see the sequel. I am going to have to go back and watch Dead Reckoning the night before I watch The Final Reckoning to refresh my memory.

The World Premiere of The Final Reckoning is May 14, 2025 at The Cannes Film Festival, while the official United States Release Date is May 23, 2025. The Final Reckoning is also one of the most expensive movies ever made coming in at $400 million. The same cast appear in the sequel as it is basically Part II of the movie. Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby to name but a few of the returning cast.

SISU 2 Filming Wrapped!

In doing research for my review of the movie SISU, I discovered that there is talk of a SISU 2. I was excited to see that because I love this movie and the thought of it being a franchise is very exciting to me. Jorma Tommila as Aatami Korpa, the Finnish Commando turned legend, reminds me of Jason Statham or Denzel Washington in The Equalizer Movies only in a Finnish WWII setting. SISU was filmed in Northern Lapland, Finland in the town of Nuorgam which is at the very top of Finland. In the movie Aatami Korpa makes his way to Helsinki to trade in his Gold. Helsinki is Finland’s southern Capitol and sits on the Gulf of Finland.

At the very end of SISU Aatami makes his way into a Bank in Helsinki and trades in his gold for cash. SISU 2 has reportedly wrapped up filming in Estonia, which is across the Gulf of Finland directly south of Helsinki. It makes you wonder about the plotline and which direction the story of SISU 2 will go. Did Aatami trade in his gold for cash and then decide to head south across the Gulf to Estonia to start a new life? Maybe he does exactly that and the comrades of the German Nazis he killed come to Estonia seeking revenge.

The quiet mild-mannered old man living quietly in Estonia, tending to his garden when……they find him and then all hell breaks loose. Just like in the first SISU only this time instead of a pick-axe he used to dig up the gold, he defends himself with a garden shovel, hoe or rake. The legend of Aatami Korpa was based on the true story of a Finnish sniper who killed over 500 Russian soldiers. Maybe where Aatami is in Estonia, he is tracked down by old Russian comrades of people he killed before the Germans. Estonia used to be part of Russia so there could be a tie there.

Anyway that is all speculation on my part. What I do know is , according to Finnish media, the film SISU 2 has wrapped filming as of the end 2024. There is an expected Film release sometime later this year, 2025. Reportedly the budget for the sequel is more than two times the budget of the original, so it should be even more grandiose in it’s action and bloodshed. Jorma Tommilla returns as Aatami Korpa and Jalmari Helander is back directing. As far as the rest of the cast or storyline that is all we know, they reportedly kept a very tight lid on it to keep expectations high.

My expectations are very high…. I loved the first movie and Jorma Tommila and can’t wait for the Sequel. Bring it on Old Man!

UPDATE May 23, 2025

The scheduled release date for Sisu 2 is November 21, 2025 by Sony Pictures.
