Nobody 2 (2025) – Review
Nobody 2 picks up right after the events of Nobody. Hutch (Bob Odenkirk) has been working hard on assignments for “The Barber” (Colin Salmon) to pay off the debt he racked up scorching The Russian Mob’s stash house. Exhausted from his latest assignment that was more than he expected, he tells The Barber he needs to take a little break. The Barber warns him that trouble seems to follow Hutch, so he should proceed with caution. Hutch plans a family trip to Plummerville, Wisconsin and an Amusement Park he used to go to as a kid. Becca (Connie Nielsen), Brady (Gage Munroe) and Sammy, (Paisley Cadorath) agree to a vacation and they load up, head out and stop to pick up Grandpa (Christopher Lloyd).
It turns out that “The Barber” was right when he told Hutch trouble would follow and it quickly does. After Hutch has an unsettling run-in with a local sheriff, Brady gets into a fight with a local kid in the arcade over a girl. They are quickly thrown out by the arcade staff insisting the Mansell Family is who started the trouble. On their way out one of the staff slaps Sammy on the back of the head. That is too much for Hutch to handle and Nobody 2 kicks into high gear. Hutch dismantles the Arcade security staff in pure Nobody fashion and finds himself overwhelmed by a taser waking up in the jail of the local sheriff (John Ortiz).
And just like in Nobody, it seems that Hutch has stumbled into a crime syndicate using the amusement park as a front. The harder he tries to avoid chaos and enjoy his family vacation, the more chaos gets thrown at him. The web he gets tangled in involves the amusement park, the local police and a National Crime Syndicate. As he gets drawn deeper into the web, he has to call on reinforcements, bringing his brother into the fight. Granda gets involved in the action and this time it is truly a family affair as Becca and the kids play a bigger role in the action this time around.
Sequels are notorious for being less than, and there are few exceptions to that rule. This is one of those rare sequels that is better than the first. It is like they took Nobody and said, “We can’t just make another one, we have to take the first one and kick it up a couple of notches and really do it justice!” I think they succeeded in their mission. Bob Odenkirk again does not disappoint as Hutch, Christopher Lloyd is hilarious as the gun toting Grandpa. RZA as Harry is smooth and sophisticated wielding violence and Zen. Connie Nielsen kicks it up a notch becoming the Mama Bear you don’t want to mess with. And Sharon Stone takes a turn as the ruthless Crime Boss Lendina, putting the hot in Psychotic!
I loved Nobody 2 just as much as Nobody, it left me ready for more! I can easily envision a Nobody 3, maybe as more of a family business this time around. I think Nobody has the potential and is turning into one heck of a Movie Franchise. Bring it back Hutch!
