A24 is bringing writer-director Chris Rock’s Misty Green to theaters this Friday!
Misty Green is Chris Rock’s first feature film as a writer-director in over a decade (since 2014’s Top Five). It is a sharp, dramatic comedy-drama that dives into the grit, hustle, and complex realities of modern Hollywood.
In Misty Green, Los Angeles is less a backdrop than a state of mind. It is a city of $40 million houses and people sleeping on the same street; of actors with trophies but no next job; of artistic ambition shadowed by the monthly fact of rent.
Misty Green (played by Rosalind Eleazar), is an Emmy-winning actress whose once-promising career has completely stalled. Facing escalating personal and financial pressures, she is forced to fight ruthlessly for a second act and a career-defining role while navigating broken relationships and systemic industry hurdles.
Facing eviction, she has one week to navigate humiliating Los Angeles auditions, manage a severe substance use issue, and keep her life from imploding while attempting to secure a life-changing comeback role. Her chaotic journey even takes her on a frantic detour to Dubai to chase a desperate paycheck.
Along the way, Misty must navigate a minefield of fractured relationships and Hollywood phonies, including her troubled brother Jay (Daniel Kaluuya), who is battling severe bipolar disorder and facing prison time, and Zach (Adam Driver), a sleazy former colleague who attempts to exploit her financial desperation by offering an inappropriate financial lifeline.
Stripping away her cynical defense mechanisms, Misty’s desperate fight for survival forces her to confront the heavy personal cost of reclaiming her identity and her career. Misty Green is rated R and is 1 hr 43min long.
Misty Green auditions in theaters Friday October 9, 2026!
