A medical team’s Amazon mission turns into a pitch-black, grimy fight for survival against a legendary Brazilian folklore monster.

Lionsgate just released the Official Trailer, Poster & Pics for Beware Boiúna, and it is anything but the cheesy B-movie giant snake film the title’s font suggests. Beware Boiúna is a straight-faced, brutal creature feature R-rated survival horror thriller. Deep in the Amazon, a humanitarian medical mission turns into a brutal fight for survival after awakening Boiúna, a legendary, colossal ancient predator snake.

Beware Boiúna has quietly evolved across three different titles. The film was originally shot and developed under the secretive working title Titan. When early marketing details began to surface, it was announced as Boiúna: Legend of the Amazon. Lionsgate ultimately tightened the branding to the more ominous Beware Boiúna right before unleashing its marketing blitz.

Unlike Hollywood’s fictionalized creature creations, Boiúna is pulled straight out of authentic Brazilian and Amazonian folklore. In traditional South American myth, the Boiúna (frequently referred to as the Cobra Grande or “Big Snake”) is a massive, ancient serpent that rules over the region’s vast waterways. “Mother of the Waters, in balance she rests. Imbalance, she defends.”

In folklore, the creature is not just a standard animal; she is a powerful, protective force of nature. The myth claims that the Boiúna possesses terrifying supernatural traits, including the ability to shape-shift, mimic boats to lure travelers, and emit a suffocating stench that causes severe dizziness and vivid hallucinations in her prey.

Backed by producers Jeremy Bolt and Robert Kulzer (the masterminds behind the multi-billion dollar Resident Evil film franchise) and Director Mike P. Nelson, the production leans into maximum realism. The crew actually waded deep into the Brazilian rainforest along the Curuça River, employing professional animal wranglers to safeguard the cast from actual venomous Amazonian wildlife during the grueling, muddy shoot.

Beware Boiúna stars Kiana Madeira (Fear Street), Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day), and Logan Marshall-Green (Upgrade), and slithers into theaters October 2, 2026.
