Paramount Reveals Shocking First-Look Images of Mark Wahlberg and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in By Any Means (2026) releasing in theaters nationwide on September 4, 2026. Mark Wahlberg transforms into real-life mob hitman Gregory Scarpa for an intense 1960s Civil Rights-era revenge thriller.

The massive batch of six new production stills and the official movie poster showcase an absolutely unrecognizable Mark Wahlberg. Wahlberg completely transforms into notorious real-life mafia hitman Gregory Scarpa. Sporting tinted aviators and a slicked-back combed-over hairstyle, his look is so uncanny it reportedly stunned Scarpa’s own family on set.

Directed by Elegance Bratton (The Inspection), the film is inspired by the wild true story of an uneasy alliance in 1966 Mississippi. Wahlberg’s Scarpa strikes a secret deal with J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI, pairing him up with a young Black special agent named Wayne Strider, played by Emmy-winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Together, the hitman and the fed embark on a volatile, blood-soaked mission to track down the conspirators behind the murders of prominent civil rights leaders.

Wahlberg recently teased that early test screenings for the movie left the audience screaming and cheering at the screen, promising it to be “one of the great revenge thrillers in quite a long time.” Along with the gripping main duo, the stacked ensemble cast includes Giancarlo Esposito, Nicole Beharie, and Josh Lucas.
