DC Studios Leans Into Grotesque Body Horror with ‘Clayface’ Terrorizing Theaters This Friday
The DC Universe is taking a massive, terrifying turn into adult horror. Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios are unleashing Clayface exclusively in theaters this Friday, October 23, 2026.
Earning a hard R rating for its intense, bloody violence and gore, this project marks the third official film in the new DCU slate and serves as a proud, gritty psychological B-movie throwback.
Directed by James Watkins (The Woman in Black) and co-written by horror master Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House), the film completely drops traditional superhero spectacle in favor of bone-chilling practical body horror inspired by Sam Raimi and Brian De Palma.
Clayface stars Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen, a rising, handsome Hollywood leading man whose life is completely shattered after a brutal encounter leaves his face horrifically disfigured by a local crime boss.
Desperate to salvage his career and appearance, Hagen turns to a cutting-edge, experimental medical treatment run by a brilliant scientist named Caitlyn Corr (Naomi Ackie).
While the strange compound successfully restores his looks by turning his physical tissue into a shape-shifting clay entity, it carries a mind-bending price. Hagen rapidly loses his grip on his own sanity and identity.
Driven mad by the loss of his humanity, he goes on an unstoppable, chaotic rampage across the city, changing personas to enact bloody revenge on the crime bosses who ruined him!
Clayface is rated R for intense bloody violence and gore, is 1 hr 48min long and slashes into theaters just in time for Halloween on Friday October 23, 2026!
