Stallone Turns Down a Fortune to Play Rocky Balboa in Powerful Second Trailer
Amazon MGM Studios has released the high-hitting second trailer for I Play Rocky, the highly anticipated biographical drama tracing the legendary real-life gamble behind the making of Hollywood’s greatest sports movie.
Directed by Academy Award winner Peter Farrelly (Green Book), the inspirational true story is set to hit select limited theaters on Friday, November 6, 2026, before expanding nationwide on Friday, November 20, 2026.
While the initial teaser introduced us to a broke, struggling Sylvester Stallone (Anthony Ippolito) writing the script for Rocky in 1974, this spectacular second trailer takes us directly inside the high-stakes corporate boardrooms of 1970s Hollywood.
The new footage highlights the legendary climax of the script negotiations. Facing eviction with less than $100 in his bank account and his pregnant wife Sasha Czack (AnnaSophia Robb) supporting the household, Stallone is offered a life-changing $350,000 buyout for his Rocky script—on the strict condition that a famous A-list star like Robert Redford or Burt Reynolds takes the leading role.
The trailer beautifully captures Stallone’s unwavering grit as he refuses to sell out his dream, famously turning down the fortune to ensure he plays the underdog fighter himself.
The incredible ensemble cast features Matt Dillon as Stallone’s father, AnnaSophia Robb as his first wife Sasha, Tracy Letts as a skeptical studio executive, and Stephan James as a spot-on Carl Weathers.
I Play Rocky is scheduled to hit theaters November 6, 2026!
