Jessica Chastain terrifies inside your heart and theaters this Friday!
Jessica Chastain is returning to her horror roots, and she’s bringing an absolute nightmare with her. This Friday, October 9, 2026, Universal and Blumhouse will unleash Other Mommy exclusively in theaters, making it the ultimate destination for horror fans ready to kick off October’s spooky season.
Directed by Rob Savage (Host) and produced by James Wan (The Conjuring), the film adapts Josh Malerman’s terrifying novel Incidents Around the House. Early tracking suggests a massive box office debut, with projections hitting between $22 million and $29 million for its opening weekend alone.
Other Mommy centers on eight-year-old Bela (Arabella Olivia Clark), a young girl caught in the middle of her parents’ fractured marriage. Her life becomes a living hell when a supernatural entity begins crawling out of her closet. The twist? The entity looks and sounds exactly like her mother.
Jessica Chastain delivers a powerhouse, dual-role performance as both Bela’s devoted mother, Ursula, and the sinister, wide-eyed doppelgänger demanding to be let “inside her heart”.
Co-starring Jay Duplass as Bela’s father, the film builds a suffocating atmosphere of dread as the family tries to figure out which “mommy” is real before the entity completely tears them apart.
Other Mommy is rated R, 1 hr 33min long and crawls out of the closet and into theaters Friday October 9, 2026!
