New Featurette from Sony Pictures showcases Jenna Ortega as Klara
Sony Pictures has released the brand-new “Instant Connection” featurette for Klara And The Sun (2026), giving us an emotional behind-the-scenes look at director Taika Waititi’s upcoming sci-fi drama!
In this exclusive featurette, star Jenna Ortega opens up about the unique challenges of playing Klara, an Artificial Friend (AF).
Describing her character as “earnest, optimistic, clumsy, but incredibly emotionally aware,” Ortega breaks down the instant, soulful bond Klara forms with Josie (Mia Tharia), a lonely teenager suffering from a chronic illness.
Tasked with being a lifeline for Josie, the featurette highlights how Klara’s innocent wonder starts untangling the deep emotional trauma and complex family tension surrounding Josie and her grieving mother (played by Academy Award nominee Amy Adams).
Based on the beloved, bestselling dystopian novel by Nobel Prize-winner Kazuo Ishiguro, this adaptation looks like a beautifully heartwarming and thought-provoking cinematic masterpiece!
The incredible ensemble cast features Jenna Ortega, Amy Adams, Mia Tharia, Aran Murphy, Steve Buscemi, and Natasha Lyonne. Directed and written by Academy Award winner Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit).
Klara and the Sun is scheduled to be released in theaters October 23, 2026, by Sony Pictures Releasing.
