Zach Cregger Returns to Raccoon City in Terrifying New ‘Resident Evil’ Film.
The survival horror franchise is officially returning to its roots, and it looks absolutely terrifying. Today, Sony Pictures delivered a double dose of dread by releasing the intense Official Trailer #2 alongside an ominous final theatrical poster and a fresh batch of film stills for director Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil reinvention.
Moving far away from previous sci-fi action iterations, Cregger (Barbarian) has crafted a gritty, back-to-basics survival horror experience. The story follows Bryan (Austin Abrams), a routine medical courier who becomes trapped in a remote Raccoon City hospital right as the T-virus outbreak decimates the city. With limited ammo and a shifting labyrinth of dark hallways, he has to evade terrifying bioweapons to deliver a critical package and survive the night.
The film also stars Paul Walter Hauser, Zach Cherry, and Kali Reis, with a screenplay penned by Cregger and Shay Hatten (John Wick: Chapter 4).
