The Wayans Family Returns! ‘Scary Movie’ Reboot Slashing Onto Paramount+ This Week!
The rules of horror have changed once again, and the masters of parody are back to rewrite them. In a massive win for comedy and horror fans alike, the highly anticipated Scary Movie reboot is skipping a lengthy theatrical window and making its exclusive streaming debut on Paramount+ this Thursday, September 3, 2026.
This untitled sixth installment marks a historic moment for the franchise: it is the first time since 2001’s Scary Movie 2 that the Wayans brothers—Marlon, Shawn, Keenen Ivory, and Craig—have fully reunited to write and produce.
Even better for legacy fans, the original “Core Four” are officially back. Anna Faris returns as the perpetually clueless Cindy Campbell, alongside Regina Hall as the outspoken Brenda Meeks. Joining them, of course, are Marlon and Shawn Wayans reprising their iconic roles as Shorty and Ray. Backed by a $30–35 million budget from Miramax and filmed at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, the production value looks sharper than Ghostface’s hunting knife.
The new film picks up twenty-six years after the crew first survived the late-90s slasher boom. This time, the satire turns its sights on the modern landscape of cinema. From “elevated horror” and psychological thrillers to the endless wave of legacy sequels, prequels, and “requels,” no intellectual property is safe from being relentlessly mocked.
Expect sharp, laugh-out-loud parodies of recent box office hits alongside the franchise’s signature brand of chaotic slapstick and crude humor.
Scary Movie is rated R, 1 hr 36min long and debuts on Paramount+ Thursday September 3, 2026.
