The Social Reckoning (2026) – First Look!
The Social Reckoning is an upcoming American biographical drama thriller written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on October 9, 2026, by Sony Pictures Releasing.
Serving as a standalone sequel and thematic companion piece to the 2010 Oscar-winning film The Social Network, the film shifts from the platform’s Ivy League origins to its modern-day controversies.
Sorkin’s original screenplay is based on the events that gave rise to the Wall Street Journal’s shocking exposé The Facebook Files. The film is inspired by the true story of how Frances Haugen (Madison), a young Facebook engineer.
She enlists the help of Jeff Horwitz (White), a Wall Street Journal reporter, to go on a dangerous journey that ends up blowing the whistle on the social network’s most guarded secrets, exposing its impact on teenage mental health, misinformation, and global political violence.
