The True Story of The Facebook Engineer who blew the whistle on the Tech Giant!
Sony Pictures is bringing Aaron Sorkin’s high-stakes legal thriller The Social Reckoning exclusively to theaters this Friday, October 9, 2026. Serving as the highly anticipated, standalone sequel and companion piece to the 2010 masterpiece The Social Network, the film dramatizes the explosive 2021 Facebook whistleblower scandal.
Frances Haugen (Mikey Madison), a brilliant young data engineer at Facebook becomes deeply alarmed after discovering that the company’s internal data routinely prioritizes corporate profit over user safety and mental health.
Risking everything, she leaks thousands of pages of highly guarded internal documents to Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz (Jeremy Allen White). Their dangerous collaboration leads to the publication of the “Facebook Files,” sparking a massive global reckoning on tech accountability.
Jeremy Strong takes over the mantle of Mark Zuckerberg, portraying a hardened, powerful tech titan far removed from the Harvard dorm-room freshman of the first film. Backed by a razor-sharp supporting ensemble including Bill Burr, Wunmi Mosaku, and Betty Gilpin, the film features Sorkin’s trademark rapid-fire dialogue as it takes a scathing look at modern corporate ethics.
Critics are already praising Madison’s standout performance, cementing this as one of the major theatrical events of the fall you don’t want to miss.
The Social Reckoning is rated R, 1 hr 52min long and comes to theaters Friday October 9, 2026!
