The Shocking True Story featuring Anna Nicole Smith’s Doctor!
While upcoming biographical drama Trust Me, I’m A Doctor is scheduled for wide theatrical release on October 16, 2026, the movie’s wildest moments actually happened in a real Los Angeles courtroom.
Starring Kal Penn as Dr. Sandeep Kapoor and Abbie Cornish as Anna Nicole Smith, the film explores the dark side of celebrity proximity. To get you ready for opening weekend, here is the real history behind the headlines.
The film is adapted from Dr. Kapoor’s 2017 self-published memoir, Trust Me, I’m A Doctor: My Life Before, During and After Anna Nicole Smith. For years, Kapoor recorded his private thoughts in simple, spiral-bound notebooks.
He never expected those diaries to become public record—until federal agents seized them following Anna Nicole Smith’s tragic overdose death in 2007.
Written and directed by Thane Economou, the movie focuses heavily on Dr. Kapoor’s personal perspective. Trust Me, I’m A Doctor is a dark comedy-drama about a man watching his life spiral out of control over a single lapse in judgment.
Trust Me, I’m A Doctor is rated R, 1 hr 51min long and debuts in theaters Tomorrow Friday October 16, 2026!
