Sacha Baron Cohen Revives Iconic Character in Secretly Filmed ‘Ali G: Who Iz I?’ Mockumentary

The king of da ting is back! In a massive surprise for comedy fans, Amazon MGM Studios has dropped the official first-look trailer and theatrical poster for Ali G: Who Iz I? (2026).

Marking Sacha Baron Cohen’s feature directorial debut, the project was covertly shot in complete secrecy over the past year, resurrecting the legendary satirical persona after a two-decade hiatus.

The upcoming film serves as a direct sequel to 2002’s Ali G Indahouse and returns to the chaotic, unscripted guerilla mockumentary format that made Borat and Brüno global phenomenons.

A West Staines Father-to-Be

The film catches up with the swaggering, yellow-tracksuit-wearing London bad boy after twenty years spent, in his words, “chillin’, tokin’ and bonin’”.

The peaceful stasis is shattered when Ali G is shocked to discover that his long-term girlfriend, Julie (played by Morgana Robinson), is eight months pregnant.

Faced with the terrifying prospect of an extra mouth to feed and needing to support his growing family, Ali G gets off his batty and heads across the Atlantic to America to reclaim his former media glory.

The first footage teases classic, cringe-inducing, and completely unscripted interactions with unsuspecting public figures, real-world instructors, and political entities.

According to the studio’s official synopsis, what starts as a quest for viral fame quickly goes off the rails as he “soon encounters adversaries who will ultimately threaten his and his child’s very existence.”

Twice the Animal Sex

True to form, Baron Cohen broke the news in character as Ali G, writing online: “Dey haz finally made a documentary about me. And it ain’t like dat crap one about da penguins, dis haz got at least twice as much animal sex.”

Alongside Morgana Robinson, the ensemble features appearance tracks by Alistair Green and a list of un-credited real-world targets.

Ali G: Who Iz I? is produced by Four by Two Films and Working Title Films, and will be released exclusively in theaters nationwide on October 23, 2026.
