Jessica Chastain and Carter Faith Dive into a Dark Nashville Noir in Netflix’s Heartland

Netflix has given us our first look at Heartland, an atmospheric country-themed mystery thriller premiering on November 13, 2026. Starring Academy Award winner Jessica Chastain, the film marks a gritty return to the music world for writer-director Shana Feste (Country Strong), who this time swaps pure melodrama for a tense, dark Nashville noir.

The story follows Misty Jones (Chastain), a legendary country megastar living in self-imposed isolation. When her 22-year-old niece, Charlie Heart (Carter Faith)—an emerging singer on the brink of her own big break—suddenly vanishes, Misty is forced back into the neon glare of Music City to investigate. To find Charlie, she must confront the dangerous secrets of her own past and navigate a murky network of industry power players.

Real-life rising country artist Carter Faith makes her acting debut as the missing niece, Charlie, and she’s pulling double duty for the project. Alongside the film’s release, Netflix Music will debut the official soundtrack, featuring the original theme song “Still the Sparrow Sings,” written and performed by Faith. The music-driven thriller will also feature vocal performances from Chastain, Jennifer Nettles, John Hawkes, and Carly Pearce.

Rounding out the star-studded ensemble cast are Garrett Hedlund, Ross Lynch, Paul Sparks, Hill Harper, and Norbert Leo Butz. Produced by Peter Chernin and Jason Owen, Heartland looks to be a haunting, music-infused mystery that pulls back the curtain on the dark side of stardom.
