Idiots (2026) – First Look!
The Independent Film Company has officially unveiled the chaotic, red-band trailer for Idiots, an extra-bonkers dark comedy from acclaimed indie filmmaker Macon Blair. Originally generating critical buzz under the title The Shitheads, this raucous descent into madness is locked and loaded for a limited theatrical release on Friday, August 28, 2026. If you are looking for a laugh out loud crime caper, this looks like late-summer gold.
The story revolves around an incredibly straightforward job that goes entirely wrong. Two absolute bozos who have hit rock bottom, Mark (Dave Franco) and Davis (O’Shea Jackson Jr.), take a gig for a sketchy transport service. Their mission: drive Sheridan Kimberley (Mason Thames), an incredibly wealthy, manipulative, and deeply troubled teenager, straight to a luxury rehab facility.
What should be an easy paycheck quickly devolves into total mayhem. Sheridan immediately derails their plans, dragging the two unqualified drivers into a chaotic overnight spiral of drugs, firearms, local crime syndicates, and sheer danger.
Director Macon Blair has loaded his crime-comedy with a wild mix of top-tier comedic talent and unexpected character choices:
- Dave Franco as Mark, an unbothered, fast-talking scumbag.
- O’Shea Jackson Jr. as Davis, a deeply religious striver just trying to do the right thing.
- Mason Thames (The Black Phone) as Sheridan, the chaotic teen causing the madness.
- Peter Dinklage as Koko, a mysterious local figure.
- Kiernan Shipka as Irina, a local exotic dancer.
- Nicholas Braun (Succession) as “Pricka Bush Da Werewoof”, a hilarious, lycan-obsessed SoundCloud rapper.
- Killer Mike as Pastor William Armstrong.
