Bleecker Street has officially unveiled the deeply disturbing, pitch-black debut teaser trailer for Victorian Psycho. Fresh off its world premiere in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, this stylized blend of period-drama elegance and graphic psychological horror is set to haunt nationwide theaters on Friday, September 25, 2026. If you love elegant costumes mixed with unhinged madness, this is your next obsession.
Set in the dreary, fog-covered English countryside of 1858, the film introduces a terrifyingly polite new antihero. The story centers on Winifred Notty (Maika Monroe), a highly eccentric, meticulously proper young governess who secures a job at the remote and imposing gothic estate known as Ensor House. She is hired to care for the children of the wealthy, aristocratic Mr. Pounds (Jason Isaacs) and Mrs. Pounds (Ruth Wilson).
By day, Winifred is the picture-perfect employee—prim, composed, and expertly trained in upper-class etiquette. By night, however, she struggles to contain a severe, insatiable, and bloodthirsty psychopathic compulsion to kill. As Winifred quietly integrates into the household, staff members begin to inexplicably disappear one by one. It isn’t long before a suspicious local doctor and the estate owners are forced to confront the reality that their perfect new governess might be a monster.
