Balls Up (2026) – Review
Well, where do we start….let’s start at the beginning shall we? Elijah DeBell (Paul Walter Hauser) and Brad Lewison (Mark Wahlberg) work at the Regal Blue Condom Company and Elijah is giving a “Practice” demonstration/pitch about his newest idea: The Balls Up Condom. Essentially an expanded condom that covers a man’s entire sexual organs, yes Testicles included, hence the name Balls Up. Only he hates public speaking, is very nervous and is sweating profusely.
He is explaining how he came up with the idea for the new condom prototype while having sex, when Burgess (Molly Shannon) agrees saying, “I relate to what you’re saying because I myself have often felt a man’s balls lightly tapping me from behind like pieces of warm dog shit dangling in a plastic poop bag. It’s unnerving and disgusting.” That is exactly 2 minutes and 2 seconds into the movie, and that should pretty much tell you everything you need to know.
But just in case, let me continue. Elijah has come up with the idea to pitch his new condom idea to The World Cup coming to Brazil. He thinks they should pitch Balls Up to become the Official Condom of the World Cup. It is a big contract and could save the struggling condom company and their jobs. Things really do go downhill from there as far as storyline, silliness and downright raunchiness.
Every stereotype you can think of gets thrown into the mix as every piece of dialogue becomes an excuse for one-liners. Amazon pitched this movie as a “Raunchy, Over-the-top Comedy”, and it is Raunchy and Over-The-Top! Pure adolescent silliness that felt more like a Benny Hill episode than a major movie from one of the Top Movie Studios/Streaming Services out there.
I have a hard time understanding why Mark Wahlberg and Paul Walter Hauser would have agreed to making this movie, but then maybe they were offered an extraordinary sum of money and agreed to “Take the money and have some fun!” I just checked and the details of how much they were paid are tightly under wraps. So, if you do watch it, you know what you are in for. Personally I can’t recommend it. That’s a Balls Down on Balls Up!
