Apple TV has just dropped the official theatrical poster for Matchbox The Movie, and it is a total blast of childhood nostalgia mixed with high-octane action. Directed by stunt-master Sam Hargrave (Extraction), this upcoming action-comedy looks like the perfect blend of explosive blockbuster thrills and toy-box fun.
In Matchbox The Movie, John Cena is doing what he does best: blending massive muscle with laugh-out-loud comedy. He plays a top-tier, undercover CIA agent who is completely unmatched in the field. But when a highly sensitive mission goes sideways, he is forced to look outside the agency for backup.
Instead of calling in elite spies, he turns to the only people he can truly trust—his childhood best friends. Cena’s character has to balance being a lethal weapon while babysitting a group of regular citizens who are wildly out of their depth.
The stakes couldn’t be higher. A rogue group has stolen a devastating nuclear warhead, and the clock is ticking. To track it down and save the world, Cena and his ragtag childhood crew must pull off a series of insane, gravity-defying heists and car chases.
The film perfectly captures the spirit of the iconic Mattel toy cars, staging action sequences that look exactly like the imaginary, chaotic backyard tracks we all built as kids—just with real, exploding vehicles!
Matchbox The Movie races onto Apple TV exclusively October 9, 2026.
