Send Help (2026) – Review
Rachel McAdams stars as Linda Liddle, a socially awkward and downtrodden Corporate Strategist working for a financial consulting firm named Preston Strategic Solutions. She is divorced and living alone with her bird, a cockatiel named Sweetie. The two of them often watch her favorite show together, Survivor. Linda is such a huge fan, her bookcase is loaded with survivalist novels and how-to books. She even sent in an audition tape to the show hoping to land a spot on it. After seven years with the company she is expecting to be promoted to Vice President, but there is one thing standing in her way.
That roadblock is Bradley Preston (Dylan O’Brien), the son of the late founder of the company who had promised Linda the promotion before he died. Bradley has taken over the company and has decided to promote his fraternity brother Donovan (Xavier Samuel ) instead of Linda. Furious at his decision Linda confronts Bradley, who is so impressed by her boldness, invites her to accompany him, Donovan, and two other executives on a business trip to Bangkok to finalize a company merger. During the flight, Donovan humiliates Linda by playing the audition tape she made for Survivor, highlighting her survival skills.
As the plane passes through a storm, it suffers engine failure and rapidly loses altitude. During explosive decompression, Donovan attempts to strangle Linda and take her seat, but she stabs him with a fork. Everyone except Linda and Bradley are sucked from the aircraft before it crashes into the sea. Linda wakes up on a remote island beach and after walking down the beach discovers the lifeless body of Bradley. She gives him mouth to mouth and brings him back to life. Using her Survivor skills, she builds shelter and secures the basic necessities of food and water.
Bradley can’t help but treat Linda as his subordinate, belittling her while she is the one actually taking care of their survival. She starts to hunt and fish, her skills empowering her to be a remarkable survivalist, coming into her own as if she was a champion on the show. The tables soon turn on Bradley as he relies on Linda’s survival skills more and more. She proves to him that she is in control now, being out of the office and out from underneath his corporate thumb. The drama and tension builds as Bradley tries to assert his dominance over Linda’s growing survivalist skills.
Will they survive and ever get off the island? Or will their battle of wills end in their demise? Or Linda’s? Or Bradley’s? It is a tense, comedic dark look at corporate authority and jungle survival. Rachel McAdams’ transformation from awkward and downtrodden home-body to rough and tough Survivalist is Oscar-worthy. I think this might be one of her best. Dylan O’Brien is surprising in his own right, transforming from Corporate yuppie to an aggressive survivalist trying to outwit Linda.
I loved the journey, with it’s surprise plot twists and harrowing almost comedic adventures. If you love dark comedies with a wild, unpredictable edge, put this on your watchlist immediately. It’s the ultimate “revenge of the office worker” story, and it kept me entertained from start to finish.
