SISU: ROAD TO REVENGE is a wall-to-wall cinematic action event, a sequel to the original sleeper hit SISU. Returning to the house where his family was brutally murdered during the war, “the man who refuses to die” (Jorma Tommila) dismantles it, loads it on a truck, and is determined to rebuild it somewhere safe in their honor. When the Red Army commander who killed his family (Stephen Lang from Don’t Breathe) comes back hellbent on finishing the job, a relentless, eye-popping cross-country chase ensues – a fight to the death, full of clever, unbelievable action set pieces.

SISU: Road To Revenge (2025) – Review
The Scenery, filmography and special effects
Just like in the first movie the scenery of untouched Finland unravaged by Nazi hands….Beautiful. As the Nazis start to enter the frame and the land they have touched, the filmography echoes that. Colors fade into the grey of war and the evilness of the Nazi war machine. The over the top special effects were awesome. Explosions, horrific graphic violence, lots of blood and body parts, wreckage and carnage galore! It was even more outrageous than the first, bordering on cartoonish even!
The Legend
The prospector character was loosely based on a WWII Finnish sniper named Simo Häyhä (The White Death) who reportedly killed over 500 Nazis. He is played by Finnish actor Jorma Tommilla, a mild mannered actor in real life. He transformed himself into a complete bad-ass in this movie. I say well done to that transformation and great job acting as The Legend. He never says a word until the very last scene in the movie and conveys so much without uttering a single word throughout the rest of the movie. His performance is a masterclass in silent intensity! I wrote this about the last movie and every bit of it is still true.
The Dog
Aatami Korpi’s dog is a Bedlington Terrier which looks slightly like a wild poodle. The director had his mind set on a more vicious dog breed for the movie but when he saw Jorma Tommilla‘s dog Bibi, he decided to use him instead. Yes, that really is Jorma’s real life dog Bibi in the films! You can see the bond the two have in real life coming through in the scenes in the movie. Personally I think Bibi was the second best actor in the film, right after Jorma.
My final words(Promise)
It reminded me of INGLORIUS BASTARDS, that movie was also laid out in Chapters. And obviously because of WWII and The Nazis but also because of the over the top violence. It was almost as if parts of it were a horror/slasher movie. Make no mistake, there is lots of violence and it is horrific, but in a horror movie type of way. Even though this is a war movie I think it borders on some good old fashioned horror, kind of like Strange Darling or Ready Or Not. It reminds me of Strange Darling in how the movie is laid out in chapters also. And again, I wrote that about the first movie and it still holds true.
Sequels are notorious for being less than, and leave you wondering why they even attempt one. SISU has become an Underground Streaming Classic, and topping that would have been no small feat. Given all that, they had to kick it up a couple of notches and they did. They doubled the budget, the action and the stunts. And it shows, they packed a lot into the 90 minutes of this film!
Jorma Tommilla as Aatami Korpi is just as impressive a performance as the first time around. Even more so at the end when Jorma displays loads of heartfelt emotion without uttering a single word, it was a very touching performance. Stephen Lang has a much more developed role as Aatami’s Arch-nemesis. He stands head to toe with Aatami blow for blow right up until the bitter end!
While sequels often fail, Sisu: Road to Revenge secures the franchise’s status as a modern action classic. It doesn’t just repeat the first film; it evolves into a streaming action powerhouse that demands to be seen.
SISU 3?
There is no official confirmation that Sisu 3 is in production, but the door is definitely open. Even though Sisu: Road to Revenge ends in a seemingly perfect conclusion, everyone involved has expressed an interest in a possible third chapter. If it becomes another streaming hit I’ll bet that we do see a third SISU Movie! I’m ready! Bring on the third one!
