Inside the Wild Colorado Wilderness Event for Brad Pitt’s ‘Heart of the Beast’
Paramount Pictures just took movie promotion to an entirely new, immersive level. To celebrate the upcoming release of the highly anticipated survival thriller Heart of the Beast, the studio invited a select group of creators and influencers deep into the Colorado wilderness for the Beaver Creek Creator Retreat.
The event wasn’t just a standard press junket. Guests were treated to an intense, hands-on experience mirroring the film’s themes, including white-water rafting and a wilderness survival skills training session. The retreat also featured an emotional live musical performance by Stephen Wilson Jr., highlighting the powerful themes of the film.
Brad Pitt and David Ayer Surprise Fans
The highlight of the event came when director David Ayer and star Brad Pitt made a surprise, backdoor appearance at the Riverwalk Theater in Edwards, Colorado. Dressed casually in a jean jacket and sunglasses, Pitt hung out with the stunned crowd for an intimate Q&A following an early screening of the film.
During the event, Pitt shared a hilarious behind-the-scenes anecdote that instantly went viral. He revealed that a local Postmates delivery driver recently recognized his face but couldn’t quite place his name. Seizing the moment to have a little fun, Pitt told the driver his name was Matt Damon, prompting the driver to confidently reply, “I knew it dude, I knew it!”

Ayer and Pitt also discussed the emotional core of the movie—the deep, realistic bond between Pitt’s character (a stranded Special Forces officer) and his rescue combat dog, Odin (played by a magnificent search-and-rescue dog named Uber). Pitt spent three weeks straight bonding with the canine before filming even began to ensure their onscreen chemistry felt completely authentic.
Heart of the Beast officially hits theaters nationwide next week on September 25, 2026.
