David Corenswet Transforms Into NFL Underdog John Tuggle in ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ Trailer

Paramount Pictures has debuted the deeply moving first trailer and promotional stills for Mr. Irrelevant (2026). Trading the Man of Steel’s cape for an authentic 1980s mustache and a New York Giants uniform, David Corenswet stars in the incredible, heart-wrenching true-life story of fullback John Tuggle.

The movie title refers to the famous sports moniker “Mr. Irrelevant”—the traditional title given to the very last player chosen in the final round of the NFL Draft. In 1983, that player was Tuggle.

Defying all odds, the unheralded rookie from California not only clawed his way onto the powerhouse roster but earned the deep respect of his legendary, ornery first-year head coach, Bill Parcells (Michael Shannon).

Mr. Irrelevant is directed by Jonathon Levine and also features Isabel May, David Krumholtz, and Jesse Plemons.
