Primetime (2026) New Trailer, Poster and Pic!

Robert Pattinson Transforms Into Chris Hansen in Chilling First Trailer for A24’s ‘Primetime’!

The intense psychological crime drama pulls back the curtain on the chaotic, boundary-pushing 2006 origins of ‘To Catch a Predator‘. A24 has officially released the first full trailer, poster and movie still for Primetime, detailing Robert Pattinson‘s eerie transformation into investigative journalist Chris Hansen.

Based on true events, the dark psychological thriller follows Hansen in 2006 as he orchestrates high-stakes, confrontational sting operations to catch online predators for Dateline NBC.

While the trailer highlights the explosive, history-making ratings boom of the broadcasts, it goes deep into the heavy backstage fallout—tracking how the host’s obsessive hunt for a “whale” predator forces his internal team to question the legal and journalistic ethics of handling vigilante entertainment.

Chris Hansen’s show To Catch A Predator had a very successful run from 2004 to 2007. The show was abruptly canceled in 2007 after an intense Texas sting operation ended in the tragic suicide of an Assistant District Attorney as police and TV cameras swarmed his house. NBC faced major lawsuits, massive advertiser backlash, and serious questions about whether “vigilante reality TV” had gone way too far.

This exact moral grey area and explosive rise-and-fall is the focus of A24’s upcoming thriller PRIMETIME, hitting theaters on September 11, 2026. Director Lance Oppenheim, known for documentaries like Ren Faire, makes his narrative feature film debut with a screenplay by Ajon Singh.

Robert Pattinson stars as Chris Hansen along with Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Phoebe Bridgers (her official film acting debut), Bokeem Woodbine and Matthew Maher.
