Focus Features Unveils Witty First Film Clip and Lush New Poster for ‘Sense and Sensibility’

Jane Austen fans have an exciting new adaptation to look forward to this autumn. Focus Features has released the first dialogue film clip—titled “It’s a Fine Name”—alongside a stunning theatrical poster and character stills for Sense and Sensibility (2026).

Directed by rising filmmaker Georgia Oakley (Blue Jean) and adapted by screenwriter Diana Reid, this vibrant new cinematic take on the legendary 1811 novel promises a bold, emotionally rebellious aesthetic heavily inspired by Portrait of a Lady on Fire.

The Contrast of Sisterhood

The classic romantic drama stars Daisy Edgar-Jones (Twisters, Normal People) as the pragmatic, guarded Elinor Dashwood, and Esmé Creed-Miles (Hanna) as her fiercely passionate, romantic sister Marianne.

Following their family’s sudden, devastating financial ruin, the sisters are forced to navigate the rigid, unforgiving social and romantic expectations of 19th-century English society.

The newly released “It’s a Fine Name” clip beautifully showcases the trademark Austen wit and the sharp creative chemistry between the two sisters.

The clip shows a whispered, energetic dialogue exchange inside their cottage as the sisters enthusiastically debate the sudden, dramatic arrival of the dashing Mr. John Willoughby (played by Frank Dillane), who recently rescued Marianne during a torrential downpour.

Sense and Sensibility comes to theaters October 16, 2026!
