Following its acclaimed world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Amazon MGM Studios has released a fascinating new behind-the-scenes look at its upcoming action-thriller, Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother (2026).
Titled “Peace in Violence,” the featurette pulls back the curtain on the film’s highly disciplined, bone-crunching martial arts choreography and the unique philosophy guiding its leading man.
The film stars two-time Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali as Latif, a devout Muslim and elite contract killer operating under a strict moral code. When his wife suddenly passes away, Latif must mount a desperate, high-stakes defense across the city of Houston to protect his children from the violent forces of his past.
The Philosophy of the Fight
As director Bassam Tariq explains in the new footage, the title “Peace in Violence” isn’t an oxymoron—it is the literal core of Latif’s character. Because of his deeply held religious beliefs, Latif doesn’t fight out of anger, malice, or a desire for vengeance. Instead, his combat style relies entirely on elite defensive and evasive martial arts.
The featurette showcases stunning choreography where Ali utilizes his opponents’ own momentum, weight, and aggression against them, neutralizing threats with terrifying efficiency while strictly maintaining a defensive posture to keep his children out of harm’s way.
